1st Day of School!!

field day elem lawn.jpg
Yesterday was my first day of teaching here at MICS.  Still not full time yet, I am currently just filling in as a US History teacher while another teacher is out of country having a baby.  The US History class is great.  There are 17 students in the class and of those 17, three of them are our girls from the dorm.  I have also gotten to know a few of the guys in the class while playing Sunday night basketball.

If you have had the opportunity to teach outside of your native country then you may know what I am talking about when I say, the first time you get up in front of that new group of students in a foreign world feels... well... weird.

This is something I didn't expect but looking back it makes sense.  The last time I was in front of a group of students I was in Somerset, KY... now I am in Salatiga, Indonesia!!  Even during the class I would catch myself referring to the US as "here", just doing it out of habit.  So glad that "here" is Indonesia and Jennifer and I get to be "here" investing in the lives of people from literally all over the world!

Again I just want to express how grateful we are to everyone who has partnered with us.  Your investments are literally impacting generations and the nations.

  2. It was a rather good week. The class is great and I anticipate a lot of learning on my part and hopefully on theirs.
